Still / Life /2024
New Haven, Connecticut
Still / Life explores the intersection of mechanical drawing conventions and the improvisational qualities of painting. Using a Rhino script and a pen plotter, an image of a still life is translated into a field of carefully calibrated dashes. Through the collaboration between the precision of the machine and the expressive gestures of the human hand, a bouquet of lilies is reinterpreted, allowing the still life to bloom a second time.
