ARCH_ Seeing Double2023

Monterrey, Mexico

This project originates in a formal study of Charles Sheeler’s 1956 painting On a Shaker Theme in which two buildings are depicted as superimposed forms. That early investigation developed through collage, exploring visual overlap and layering as generative tools. These studies inform a spatial strategy in which intersecting forms rotate around a shared axis, producing rooms and figures that are greater than the sum of their parts. Discrete units are organized along a guiding spine, establishing both structure and continuity.

Conceived as a double program, the project accommodates a community space, equipped with a kitchen and gathering hall, alongside a gym housing a basketball court, locker rooms, training areas, and a raised running track.
